Krakow: Parkrun

I planned to do the Krakow Parkrun while I was visiting. It would be my 100th run, and doing it somewhere other than my “home” run of Eastville seemed like a fun idea.

I was in two minds about it this morning, as I wasn’t feeling 100% after my cold, but was up in plenty of time to get the bus over to the start point.

The event was run by a very charismatic run director.  She gave an excellent briefing (in Polish and English, and with pictures), before leading a group warm up.

They had a nice tradition where they gave a rock painted with the parkrun logo to the person who’d come furthest, to take a photo of at their local parkrun.  This went to an Australian woman. 

The course was nice and flat – basically round a park .co, with a short out and back section at the start to make up the distance.  They’d marked 1km intervals on the course, which was helpful. 

There were a lot of fast and fit people on the run.  There seemed to be a lot of other tourists too.

A couple from Somerset kindly took my photo afterwards.  They were then off to catch a flight to Warsaw for the 10k

I was pretty pleased with how I did; 44th out of 253, with a time of 22:20.

I’ve just realised there’s a Parkrun where I’m planning to be next Saturday, so I might do another tourist one
