Hamburg – Minatur Wonderland

Several friends had enthusiastically recommended Minatur Wonderland as soon as I’d said I was going to Hamburg. It didn’t disappoint.

I seem to have taken several hundred photos, so just a handful are here.

I was very glad I’d booked the “behind the scenes” tour in advance (there are only a couple of tours in English per day). It was very interesting – especially how the semi autonomous cars work, and know how to recharge themselves when they start to run slowly. There were a lot of “easter eggs” that were only visible on the behind the scenes tour.

Venice was a particular highlight (even though there are no trains in it 😉 – you could really feel the designers’ sense of humour in a lot of the interactive parts. The street vendors who hide their products when the police come round, the rather, erm, energetic couple who cause a house to fall down, etc.

I ended up spending about 5 hours in there (and could easily have spent longer). I’d definitely be up for another visit.

Update – all the photos I took are here
