This was about an hour away on the bus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;d paid for the combined vivarium and caves ticket, as I was curious to see the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.m.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Olm\">Olm<\/a>, which is a weird cave dwelling amphibian.  I did manage to spot a couple in their aquarium, but it wasn&#8217;t possible to take a photo of them as it&#8217;s almost totally dark. I&#8217;m not sure whether I wasn&#8217;t looking hard enough, or whether some of the tanks were empty!  Having said that, the explanations of what was (allegedly) in the tanks was well done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The caves themselves were really spectacular. It hurtles along at quite a space down the narrow tunnels.  There were lots of warnings about not using selfie sticks (good life advice generally) &#8211; presumably lots of people had hit their phone on the tunnel sides doing so.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The rest of the tour was on foot. bothered with the vivarium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the tour it was a case of exit through the subterranean gift shop:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" was a good day out, but rather expensive given how long you get in the caves (~\u20ac30 without the vivarium).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I left the caves it&#8217;d been raining quite heavily.  On the way back to Ljubljana the heavens opened.  Fortunately we got stuck in traffic and by the time we arrived it&#8217;d stopped raining.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That evening there was a huge thunderstorm, which I think I mentioned on the Ljubljana post.
